After the borrowed-van co-op note, I dropped the border-crossing plan and made each student trace one local boundary, then log it in a shared sheet. I also ditched the cursive worksheet generator for field notes and now use a working grow-your-garden value list to rank what we actually observe. Map tracing no longer ends at the page; it ends with a walk and a dated photo.
